In 4th Grade art, we talked about figure drawing and how important it is to look closely at the shapes and sizes to get the correct proportions. We looked at a model/figure and did some quick gesture sketches as practice and to get the hang of comparing lines, shapes, and space to draw more realistically. After practicing in our sketchbook, we used stencils to plan out and create a painting using figures. We thought about what our painting would be about and used our individual artistic voices to make a plan. In our paintings we could choose to express a narrative, a memory, a dream, feelings, or an abstract painting. We focused on the Elements & Principles of Art: line, shape, color, space, and proportion. This was a great project to use our creative thinking and visual communication skills. Ask me about my painting and tell me what you like about it.
