Our first art unit this year was abstract non-objective drawing. Inspired by the artworks of Wassily Kandinsky, students experimented by combining lines and shapes to create a series of abstract sketches. They selected their favorite sketch to enlarge and create a more refined, complete composition, including a variety of drawing techniques. Once completed, students wrote titles and artist statements about their completed artwork and their artmaking experience. This exhibit includes artwork from Kindergarten through 8th Grade students.
