Students have been shifting from project based, teacher directed work to student led work. Students learned to set up their workspace and take care of the materials of their choice from one of three studios: Drawing, Painting or Collage. They’ve discussed the many ways that artists get their ideas and began creating work that they may have thought about, felt, remembered, observed, or imagined. Two new studios, Fibers and Sculpture, have opened up, so students have many more options when designing their work.
Each finished piece of work took multiple classes to create. Students critiqued each other, giving feedback meant to help each other create a strong piece of art. Students then reflected on their work and engaged and persisted in completing a finished work that they were proud of. Students matted, signed and titled their work before uploading it into Artsonia. Last, but not least, students reflected on their work as they created artist statements to tell you more about their wonderful, original work!
