Grade 1 Architecture

First grade students are acting like architects and designing buildings.  They started by desigining a roller coaster for a pigeon to meet a design challenge and think about the purpose for desiging.  They drew blueprints of a NYC style realistic building, they drew Mary Blair inspired fantasy castles, they drew a realistic town scene and tried to add many architectural details such as doors, windows, gargoyles, wreaths, etc.  First graders know that an architect designs and draws blueprints to build buildings.  First graders are identifying realistic vs. fantasy buildings.
