Starry Starry Night

Discussing the birth of Jesus and where it took place, who came to see him and how did they know where to find him. Mixing white paint with blue paint students make light blue. Starting the painting in the center of the paper showing texture with brush strokes in circular pattern to create movement within the painting. Discussed gradients, ombre, blending and mixing. Reinforcement from gradients from previous lesson with oil pastel candles. Discussed silhouettes and used templates to cut out manger scene . Choice of just Mary, Joseph and Jesus to adding on animals of their choice. Discussing focal point and highlight we used glue to design stars then placed soft glitter on stars for shine. This was the students favorite part.
