About this School Project (2 - Pattern Giraffe)

Second graders looked at fine art examples in many different styles and discussed how artists use pattern and texture in their work. We also talked about how color is used for expression. These giraffes were drawn by combining simple shapes to create a contour line drawing. After adding organic shapes for “spots” patterns were added to each one. Students experimented with mixing watercolor paints to create unique colors. Colors were added carefully, creating balance in their overall design.
