About this School Project (3 Extreme Chalk Pastel Snowman)
INTRO:
During this lesson, students learned that shading an object creates a more realistic image by making something that is two-dimensional appear three-dimensional. They learned that a light source is needed for an object to appear shaded and that whatever surface is closest to that light source appears lighter and that the area farthest appears in shadow.
PROJECT:
To begin, students learned chalk pastel techniques to lesson the occurrence of smudges and fingerprints so that their work area and artwork is kept as clean as possible. Through a step-by-step demonstration/instruction students then learned how to shade, layer color and blend to create a three-dimensional looking snowman. Finally, they decorated their snowman with unique identities and supporting backgrounds.
