About this School Project (Concentric Circles inspired by artist Wassily Kandinsky)
4K students learned about the artist Wassily Kandinsky. Students looked at the paintings of Wassily Kandinsky and also pictures of the solar system. We talked about how his circles reminded us of planets. They each used a variety of colored tempera paint sticks to create a circle painting with colored rings. We combined them to look like Kandinsky’s painting “Squares with Concentric Rings”. I they had fun repeating the circular shapes with the paint sticks! We talked about how he experimented with mixing colors. They blended and overlapped their paint colors to make new colors as they worked from the center outwards to the edges of their paper.
