About this School Project (Kdg Painting Studio)
In the painting studio, students have access to 5 different types of paint. They can paint with transparent paints, such as water color, tempera cakes, and liquid watercolor. Students also have the option to work with opaque paints such as liquid tempera and acrylic paints. When students work with the liquid tempera and acrylic paints, they are only given access to primary colors, black, and white. In order to paint the rainbow, students apply color theory and gain hands-on experience with how the color wheel works.
In our choice-based art studio, we learn:
· To develop craft, techniques, and artistic processes.
· Persistence through challenges.
· To generate ideas independently.
· To search for meaning within an artwork.
· To receive and provide advice, suggestions, and feedback.
· To take risks, and try something new.
· To appreciate artwork created by artists from different backgrounds, cultures, and communities.
