Artist Statement (what Lauryn1795 said about their artwork)
I wanted to create a butterfly that has a meaning to me personally. As a kid I loved monarch butterflies and always have, they are very beautiful and meaningful to me. The colors and all of the rolls create rhythm in the piece because they are all coherent and go together. The wings are matching and they all lead outward to the ends of the wings, this creates movement. The different textures on the page, are created by the rolls and loops, and the different sizes of the rolls. I think it is well thought out and intricate, with lots of detail. The idea is well shown and you can clearly see the main idea/ focus. I think I could've added more rolls and created them to be tighter packed on the page, so there are fewer gaps in between.
About this School Project (Sculpture- Paper Relief Sculptures)
Students applied 3D paper techniques to create a wall hanging relief sculpture. They had the opportunity to work in an abstract or a representational manner. Their sculptures incorporate texture in strong manner sometimes to the point of abstracting their subject matter.
