About this School Project (4th Grade Tropics)
The 4th grade learned about silhouettes by looking at pictures of palm trees in the sunset. They also learned about perspective while trying to show distance in their painting. The largest palm tree is the lowest down on the horizon line and as they go back in space the trees are smaller and further up on horizon line.

They created a background using a watercolor resist showing the sun setting with crayon. They painted beautiful watercolor sunsets using color theory to create a vibrant sky. Finally, they drew their palm tree composition and outline them in black sharpie markers to create their very own palm tree silhouette.
Comments about this Artwork
This one has such great color blending. Is it watercolor? Makes me think of mommy and daddy's honeymoon. Also makes me think of the Swiss Family Robinson... who knows what's happening on that island!
