About this School Project (Claude Monet Inspired Impression of a Cool Color Ponds & Water Lilies)
Kindergarten students looked at photographs of French artist Claude Monet's home, garden, and ponds and then looked at his Impressionistic paintings showing the same places. Students observed how the artworks were similar to the photos, but not exactly like the real thing. This year, students will be working toward the Ohio Visual Art Standard: K.2CO- "Consider and discuss why people create and enjoy works of art." Monet really enjoyed his garden and pond so painted it often and in different ways. Kindergarten artists used tempera cakes and watercolor paints to create the impression of water!
Students will also be practicing being able to "Demonstrate willingness to try new processes" (Ohio Visual Art Standard K.1PR) and "explore a variety of materials and tools to create works of art (Ohio Visual Art Standard K.2PR ). To work toward these goals, students were given a variety of materials to use to add to their paintings during the 2nd art class that they worked on them. They used their creativity and thinking skills and chose to draw or collage to add details to their impression of Claude Monet's pond!
