About this School Project (Kindergarten - Frida's Black Cat)
The students watched the read aloud video "Frida Kahlo and Her Animalitos" by Monica Brown. They learned a little art history about Frida Kahlo in celebration of heritage month. Mrs. Breen used directed drawing and the Kindergarteners put lines and shapes together to draw to a black cat with flowers on its head in the style of Frida Kahlo. They used their creativity to add a fancy collar. The second week of this lesson they learned to draw a pumpkin behind the cat using curved lines. They finished off the drawings by coloring the cat and pumpkin and shading the background of their little masterpieces.
