About this School Project (Zentangle Leaf)
Third grade students learned about the American artist Georgia O’Keeffe.
Georgia O’Keeffe was a painter who painted objects from observing nature. The students learned that she painted natural subjects larger than their normal size and often painted only portions of the objects for a more unique composition.
Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s style, students
created their own observational drawings of leaves. Then they filled the inside of their leaves with zentangle patterns using a black marker. Finally, students painted the space around their leaves with either warm or cool watercolors using a wet-on-wet technique.
