This self portrait project is based on the book The Day You Begin written by Jacqueline Woodson and illustrated by Rafael Lopez. The book is a story about celebrating the things that make you uniquely you. The 3rd grade portraits emphasize the things that make each of us special by showcasing 3 words that each 3rd grader chose to describe themselves along with a beautifully painted portrait.
