About this School Project (2Mu Dots All Around!)
All students at Foster School began our new year (back in the art room, YAY!) in art with The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds. . Did you know that September 15th is International Dot Day? You can read more about it here:
https://www.internationaldotday.org/. Different grades focused on different art curriculum skills. Second grade focused on these two:
1). Focus on and pursue a process or idea to completion by setting up, maintaining, and cleaning up a suitable workspace for a wide variety of art materials and tools.
2). Identify one's best work or one's favorite work for sharing and explain the choice.
Students had a variety of art media to explore their own art, inspired by The Dot. They were given two pieces of paper to work on. Some finished both, some completed one. The next class students will be continuing to work on these, then sharing their favorite piece, and will explain why it is their favorite. The two skills represent the Arts Curriculum strands of "Creating: Generate, Conceptualize, Use Media" and "Presenting: Select, Analyze, Refine for Presentation, Convey Meaning."
They had a great time being back in the art room!
