About this School Project (1Pa The Dot!)
All students at Foster School began our new year (back in the art room, YAY!) in art with The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds. . Many first grade students have not had the pleasure of reading this amazing book yet. Did you know that September 15th is International Dot Day? You can read more about it here:
https://www.internationaldotday.org/. Different grades focused on different art curriculum skills. First grade focused on these two:
1). Focus on and pursue a process or idea to completion by setting up, maintaining, and cleaning up a suitable workspace for a wide variety of art materials and tools.
2). Identify one's best work or one's favorite work for sharing and explain the choice. (We will do this next class.)

My favorite part is when they discover what happens when they add water to their watercolor crayon areas. Even though it was demonstrated, there is always a "AWWWW! Look what I made!" or a "Wow! That is so cool!" Children discovering the wonder of different media, and their ability to control it, is breathtaking.
The next class students will be continuing to work on these, then they will be sharing their favorite piece, and will explain why it is their favorite. The two skills represent the Arts Curriculum strands of "Creating: Generate, Conceptuali
