About this School Project (3-A Animals at Night)
This lesson was inspired by the book, "The Home Builders" by Varsha Bajaj. The illustrations by Simona Mulazzani are beautiful and inspiring and show animals building their homes in the forest. Mulazzani's animals are surrounded by whimsical, brightly colored foliage. Students chose an animal to draw and then got to create the animal's habitat by layering drawings of plants, trees and leaves around the animal. They used colored pencils, bright crayons, and oil pastels to draw flora that literally pops off of the black card stock.
