About this School Project (3rd grade Monochromatic Landscapes)
Students in 3rd grade drew and painted landscapes that show depth! Students looked at photographs of landscapes and observed atmospheric perspective: a natural phenomenon in which colors and objects appear lighter in color and value relative to their distance to the viewer. The further away an object is, the lighter it appears.
Students were then guided through a landscape drawing and were asked to include the following in their work:
-A drawing of a landscape with layers of space (foreground, middleground, background)
-A Detail drawn large in the foreground or middleground
-Show depth using atmospheric perspective using a single color (each layer gets lighter in value)
-Your best effort
