About this School Project (Kindergarten - African Huts)
Kindergarteners are beginning a new unit learning about how Art is Everywhere. They learned that Africa is a very large continent, that is made up of many different countries. They also learned that Africa has many diverse environments that range from cosmopolitan urban areas, to rainforests, deserts, or even grassland environments. Using this knowledge, students drew their own African savannas. They practiced their folding skills to create a basic origami house shape. Then, they colored their houses to looks like huts that would be found in more rural African grasslands, by using longer lines on the roof to illustrate the grasses used to create the roofs. Finally, students glued their huts their backgrounds to complete their art.
