I made this like a simple of friendship and added a different design on each side of the heart.
About this School Project (3rd & 4th: Form / Mexican Tin Hearts as Inspiration)
Students looked at Mexican tin hearts called Milagros. The word milagro means miracle. We were inspired by the form, color and textures in antique milagros as well as the bright patterns in modern ones. We noticed that they almost seemed sculptural. They are considered relief sculptures which means that are three dimensional like a sculpture but you only look at the front.
A stencil was made to create our hearts and then we used metal tooling tools to make our hearts pop out. Then we added pattern and texture to give it some visual interest. Lastly, we added color to accentuate the beauty of our designs.
