About this School Project (Kandinsky's Circles)
Wassily Kandinksy was a Russian Painter who was a pioneer of Abstract art. He was well known for the geometric quality of his art, using circles, triangles, squares, organic shapes, and a variety of lines. Kindergarten artists viewed one of his famous pieces of art called Farbstudie Quadrate, which was made using paints and many different sizes of circles. Students created a version of their own, using paper cutting techniques. Students had to first create six sections on their paper, then cut circles of varying sizes to glue on top of each other. They had to be mindful of their color choices and circle sizes to make sure each concentric circle was able to be seen. I think their art has a great likeness to Kandinsky's original!
