About this School Project (3rd Grade Fish Drawings)
Students in 3rd grade drew a fish by looking at a reference image.
Students took part in a guided class activity in which all students drew from looking at a picture of a fish. When an artist uses a picture, it's known as a reference image.
Students drew from their reference image by simplifying the shapes in the picture into geometric shapes (squares, ovals, circles, rectangles, etc.) and then slowly added details and changes to make the drawing look more like their reference image.
Lastly, students used their imagination to add details in their backgrounds
Students included the following in their work:
-Drawing from reference image: drawing should resemble the picture you are looking at
-Starting with simple shapes, then adding details
-Background details from imagination, in a variety of sizes
-Effort & Craftsmanship
