About this School Project (1st Grade Imaginary Landscapes)
First graders painted imaginary landscapes after exploring the question "How do artists come up with ideas?"
Students identified horizon lines in landscape photography. Next, they watched a demonstration of how to create a landscape starting with a horizon line, and adding details and texture to the ground and sky.
Then, students were asked to define imagination and discussed how imaginary things in a story or artwork can be fictional and different than how things are in reality.
Students included the following in their work:
-A horizon line (separating ground from sky)
-Different kinds of lines to show texture
-Colored pencil for details and paint for sky and ground
-At least 3 imaginary details such as trees, plants, castles, secret doors, treasure chests, dragons, robots, magic potions etc.
