Artist Statement (what Tylee140 said about their artwork)
I did the Mpuannum (Five Tufts of hair) and Nyame Nti (By God’s grace). Because I think it was the easiest one to do. I chose the other because it is pretty. I think my project is colorful. I wouldn't change anything.
About this School Project (Explore Art- Adinkra Prints)
Students learned about the rich cultural history of the adinkra cloth of Ghana, Africa. They studied the process of making adinkra prints and adapted the printing proecees to create their own adinkra stamps and decorated cloths. Each student chose two adinkra symbols that were personally meaningful for their cloth. Some students worked collaborative and shared their stamps to expand the available symbols they could use on their "cloth".
