About this School Project (Kindergarten Self-Portraits and Masks)
This is a first art project kindergarten artists made this year. Of course, this is an historic year--2020, the year of the corona virus and masks at school. Students were given disinfected mirrors to study the shapes on their faces. They added each part of the face step by step. We paid attention to how our eyebrows change shape with different expressions. We took a brief break from wearing our masks to study the shape of our mouth when we experience different feelings. Students also demonstrated their best coloring, cutting, and gluing skills. Students then designed 4 masks for their self-portraits to wear. Lastly students explained why their self-portrait was feeling that way. It will be interesting to see how each student's looks and art skills will change over the next 5 years. Artsonia will save all their art work from year to year digitally here, which will make the comparison easy to see.
