About this School Project (Polymer clay)
Our school got a grant to hire an artist to teach students about polymer clay! Melissa Terlizzi will work with our students to create a large collaborative piece for our school about our wetlands in our backyard, as well as small individual sculptures made out of polymer clay. Polymer clay is sold in arts and crafts stores like Hobby Lobby, Dick Blick, and online. What's unique about is that it doesn't dry out or become hard unless you bake it in an oven at a low temp (275 degrees). No kiln or glazes required. A pasta machine is a handy tool to crank out really thin sheets of clay. Kids love to combine colors, too!
