About this School Project (Illustrated Alphabet: 4th Grade: A,B,C Weeks One and Two)
Students slowed way down and observed objects in their environment just as many artists have done so before them. Taking a deep breath, looking closely, we are able to begin to notice things that we may have overlooked in our everyday life, like the light reflected off of an object or or colors we didn't see before. Learning to see is the most important step in learning to paint and draw.
We looked at Nedobeck's Alphabet Book and other examples of illustrated alphabets as inspiration before staring our own work. Then we chose our materials and began illustrating one object per day, that we found in our house, starting with the letter A, then B, then C. Working regularly helps strengthen our art making skills. Everyone can become good, and even great at art, if they practice!
