About this School Project (*Kindergarten Bluebonnets Painting)
There is a lot of color mixing knowledge happening in the art room! It is fun to learn while creating beautiful artwork. :)
The kindergarten art classes learned about the relationship between warm and cool colors in this art lesson. Warm colors, such as red, yellow and orange, evoke warmth because they remind us of things like sun and fire. To begin, we looked at photographs of sunsets and named the colors that we saw in them. We used yellow, orange, magenta and white to paint our own sunsets. We talked about how all of the colors mixed together and what new colors were made.
Cool colors, such as green, blue and violet, evoke a cool feeling because they remind us of things like night, water and cool grass on a summer day. After our warm colors were dry, we used a mixture of blue, violet and white to replicate the bluebonnet's beautiful color. They mixed to create a new color; blue violet. The Bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas; the shape of the petals on the flower resemble the bonnets worn by pioneer women to shield them from the sun.
We used shades of green to paint the stem and leaves and white to highlight the flowers. Enjoy!
