About this School Project (Castle and the Sun)
2nd grade artists learned about the artist Paul Klee and his style of abstract art. Using his artwork, "Castle and Sun" as inspiration, artists created their own castle drawings using geometric shapes. They then placed the drawings onto a styrofoam printing block and etched into by tracing their drawing with an ebony pencil. Artists then used printing ink and applied it to their printing block using a brayer. They created two different prints. Students chose their best print and added color to their shapes using crayons.
