About this School Project (Winslow Homer Inspired Seascapes)
After learning about the differences in artistic styles between Claude Monet and Winslow Homer, students painted water with tempera paint in thick, mostly horizontal strokes. The colors used determined if it was the water or the sky, and the amount of blending decided if the water was calm or wild. Done separately, the sky and water were connected at the horizon. Paper boats, sharks and ships and light houses were crafted separately with drawing techniques on various paper types. A discussion of space in depth made it easier to decide where crafted items were placed.
