Artist Statement (what Gentry224 said about their artwork)
Hello, this is me doing my best to explain Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is french for Fat Tuesday, and is used to refer to the last to eat fat-filled rich foods, before the ritual fasting of Lenten season. Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and others also celebrated the holiday, the first American Mardi Gras occurred in 1699! During Lent many Christians fast for religious reasons.
