About this School Project (Monarch, School Collaboration- 1st Grade)
Students created their Monarch butterflies using paint chip sample cards and black crayons. We discussed characteristics of Monarch butterflies. How do we know it's a Monarch? How can we tell if it's male or female (males have a black dot on their bottom wing)? What colors make it a Monarch? We looked at their wings and noticed symmetry. We also discussed the Monarch migration, the El Rosario Butterfly Sanctuary in Mexico and what can we do to help the Monarch (save the Milkweed plant).
