About this School Project (3rd: Abstract Collographs)
Collograph- a collage of materials glued on to a "printing plate," which is a square of cardboard. When glue is dry, it is shellaced or varnished so that it can be painted with acrylics. Paper is then pressed on to the surface to produce a print.
Third grade artists made a collage with various materials. Then, students practiced printmaking by inking their collage plates with printing ink and printing on colorful paper. This type of printmaking is called a Collograph. Each student chose some of their favorites to frame and added details with oil pastels.
