About this School Project (Metepec Suns)
Students were inspired by ceramic artists from Metepec, Mexico. We discussed colors, symbols, patterns, and other characteristics of the suns created by these artists. We also talked about how these suns are hung on homes to bring good luck to the families.
Students practiced on a handout before drawing their sun face onto a paper plate. Students then used yarn to weave around the plate to create texture and patterns for their sun rays.
