About this School Project (Giraffes Can't Dance)
Students listened to the Book "Giraffes Can't Dance."
Students drew a step by step Giraffe on 9" x 12" yellow Sulphite paper, using black sharpies.
Students colored orange and brown spots on the giraffe and then cut it out.
Students folded a piece of white "9 x 12" heavy sulphite in half.
Students then traced a circle from a Dixie cup on an upper corner of their paper.
Students painted the circle shape with white Tempera paint.
Then students dipped their brush into a little blue Tempera paint to create a light blue ring around the white circle.
Then students added increasingly more blue Tempera paint (to make a darker tint) each time they painted the concentric circles around the original circle.
This will create a moonlit evening background.
Students should only paint the top half blue.
Next, students should paint the bottom half yellow, using Tempera paint.
Then, a few minutes after, paint over the yellow with Green Tempera Paint.
After, students should take the wooden (or plastic) end of their paintbrush and "scrape" or "draw" marks on the green paint to indicate grass.
Finally, students should use all purpose bottle glue to glue on the paper Giraffe.
