About this School Project (2nd Grade Oil Pastel Doughnuts)
In this fun and colorful art project, the second graders used their imagination and knowledge of color to make delicious-looking doughnuts!
They began this project by filling their paper (a color of their choice) with round doughnuts. They then colored in the doughnuts with oil pastels, a drawing material that is a cross between crayons and chalk pastels. They are made from a pigment (color) and a non-drying oil with a wax binder. They are easy to smear, blend, layer and mix by simply using a finger or smudge stick.
The second graders were challenged to use more than one color of oil pastel in each area to add interest and make the doughnuts and frosting look more realistic.
