About this School Project (4 Mandala Tertiary Color Wheel)
We learned that not only are there primary colors (red, yellow, and blue that make up all the other colors), and secondary colors (orange, green, and purple made up by the primary colors), but there are also tertiary colors. Tertiary colors are made up of a primary color such as red plus a secondary color such as orange to make a new color such as red orange. To study these three types of colors we experimented with color mixing and created tertiary color wheels. To make them unique pieces of art, we then used them as backgrounds to create mandalas. In Sanskrit, mandala means circle and is used to symbolize the universe in its perfection. In our mandalas, the artists may have chosen to use perfect symmetry or asymmetry.
