About this School Project (Kindergarten Concentric Circles)
Students in Kindergarten grade painted concentric circles that will be used in a school mural. Students observed the work of Wassily Kandinsky, Color Study with Concentric Circles (1913).
Next, students were asked to create their own concentric circles, using a tempera wash.
Students were asked to include the following in their work:
-Start with a painted circle in the center of your paper, using the color of your choice
-Continue to paint around that circles, forming rings with various colors until you reach the edge of your paper
For color choices:
-Student can simply select the colors they would like to use
-Students can choose a color harmony (i.e. warm, cool, complementary, analogous, etc.)
-Students can communicate a theme or emotion with the color choices (happiness, excitement, confusion, etc.)
