About this School Project (Positive and Negative Space with Birds)
Students had learned about characteristics of birds in their classroom. They used facts that they had learned about birds to show how to create positive and negative space in their artwork. First, students folded the paper in half. Students drew out a design for their bird on both sides. Then, on one side, they wrote the facts inside their bird drawing. On the other side, they wrote the facts around the bird using various media. Students then came up one at a time to pick one side of their drawing and identify the positive and negative space in their work.
