About this School Project (Egyptian Portrait)
The students learned about Egyptian history, art, makeup, and jewelry. Each student had their photo taken in profile. We cut out our pictures and glued them onto a brown piece of paper. We ripped the edges of the brown paper to make it appear older. We then transformed our pictures to make ourselves look like Egyptian Pharaohs or Queens. We used oil pastels to color our drawings. The students also each created a cartouche, an Egyptian symbol that contains hieroglyphics of the Pharaoh's or Queen's name...like a name tag. This cartouche was then added to the portrait.
Los estudiantes aprendieron sobre historia egipcia, arte, maquillaje y joyería. Cada estudiante tuvo su foto tomada en el perfil. Recortamos nuestras fotos y las pegamos en un papel marrón. Rasgamos los bordes del papel marrón para que parezca más viejo. Luego transformamos nuestras imágenes para que nos veamos como faraones egipcios o reinas. Usamos pasteles al óleo para colorear nuestros dibujos. Los estudiantes también crearon cada uno un cartucho, un símbolo egipcio que contiene jeroglíficos del nombre del Faraón o de la Reina ... como una etiqueta con su nombre. Este cartucho fue añadido al retrato.
