About this School Project (K - Line Landscapes)
INTRODUCTION: During this project, students were read the book Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson. They noticed how Harold used his crayons to draw a variety of lines to create pictures. They also looked at the landscape painting, The Stary Night, 1889 by Impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh; noting and naming his use of a variety of lines.
PROJECT: Students followed a demonstration to create their artwork. They practiced straight, curvy, wavy, scalloped, zigzag, and spiral lines (to name a few) while making these lines into features of the land. They drew these features on their paper with construction paper crayons and then later added additional details to add interest.
