About this School Project (K - Clay Texture Pendants)
In this clay project, students in Kindergarten learned about the art element of texture. To get a “feel” of what real texture is, students discovered and felt textures throughout the art room like rough brick walls and smooth wooden tables.
Next, to expand on those explorations, students experimented with making their own textures in clay. Kindergarteners use a variety of tools to show the texture in their clay. Once satisfied with their visual textures, they cut and fashioned a pendant into their favorite shape.
After the clay was bisque fired (fired once), the students added glaze and glass beads to the pendants to give them color. Lastly, the pendants were strung though cord with beads to complete the look. A wearable piece of art is the final product that the Kindergarteners can surely be proud of!
