About this School Project (Texture Monsters)
Students looked at the element of art, texture, for this project. We defined texture and looked for words to describe the things we felt around us. Then, we practiced showing texture in a class drawing. Together we saw that artists can create the illusion of texture just by using lines or different tools (implied texture). After, students got to work creating their texture monsters, but this time they were able to use a variety of actual textures such as cardboard, yarn, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, and more.
