About this School Project (1st Grade Field of Flowers)
For this project, the first grade art classes learned the terms foreground and background. They also learned that when things are drawn smaller, it's an artist's way of making things look like they are farther in the distance.
This art lesson also taught the first grade art classes about how to mix tertiary colors. Tertiary colors are the colors between primary and secondary colors, like red-orange, red-violet, and blue-green.
We began this project by using yellow, orange and white to paint a sunset. The yellow (a primary color) mixed with orange (a secondary color) to create yellow-orange. After their skies were painted, they used yellow, green and white to paint their grass. The yellow (primary) mixed with green (secondary) to create yellow-green.
The next art class we used liquid tempera paint to paint the flowers. Flowers in the foreground were painted bigger and flowers in the background were painted smaller.
Beautiful!
