About this School Project (Art Assessment)
On the first day of Kindergarten art, I like to assess where my kindergartners are with their skills. I give them a sheet with different shapes and ask them to color something different in each shape (a face in the circle, polka dots in the square, lines in the rectangles..etc.) I then ask them cut out the different shapes, arrange them into a person, and glue them down. Since our person has a party hat, I also ask them to decorate the background as if this person is at a party.
This shows me how well they follow directions and how well they cut, color and glue.
