About this School Project (2nd grade James Rizzi Cityscape (Mrs Jackson))
With this collaborative piece the class was working on the learning objective: We will gain understanding of elements that are important to constructed environments and community life.
We looked at two pieces by the artist James Rizzi and discussed how he showed different types of communities. We discussed what makes a constructed environment and listed the parts to a constructed environment; buildings, people and transportation. Each student then created a building, piece of transportation and a person for a class community art piece. The kids enjoyed this project so much many made multiple buildings, people and transportation. We also include water for boats and sea creatures. We had so many pieces for our community we had to let some go home with their student creator because we ran out of room on our finished art piece. The finished work was displayed in the hallways for all of Becky-David to see. This was a fun activity that everyone got to be a part of!
