About this School Project (3rd Grade Empty Bowls Project 2016 - 2017)
My wonderful 3rd grade Pineville Smilers are using their art to help others by participating in the Empty Bowls Project. The empty bowl is symbolic of those among us with unmet needs - around the world there are many empty bowls that need filling. In the Empty Bowl project artists create handmade bowls, sell them at an empty bowls event and donate the proceeds to an organization of their choosing. Our third graders are crafting their bowls with love and a generous spirit and have chosen the Kajiado children's home in Kenya as their recipient organization. Our empty bowls were sold at our International Night and our students raised over six hundred dollars for their friends in Kajiado! I am so proud of them for the compassion they show by giving their beautiful little empty bowls up - proof of just how full their hearts are!
