About this School Project (Pinch Pots)
The K/1's learned a technique for making bowls, called pinch pots. To begin the unit the students learned some of the rules and dangers of working with clay. We went over safety information and watch some instruction videos. Then, we discussed pattern and texture. Each student made their own pinch pot, trying to make the walls as even as possible. They were required to add two decorative elements; 2 patterns, 2 textures, or one of each. The student then learned about the firing and glazing process. These pots were made to be sold at our hunger awareness event, Empty Bowls.
