About this School Project (Grades 3&4: The Art of Paul Klee: Fantasy Castles)
The students viewed works by the great Austrian painter, Paul Klee. He was known for segmenting the picture plane with a wide variety of colors, and then placing fantasy worlds within that setting.
Here, the students were given only the primary colors and white, and were expected to mix 16 different colors with those options. Castles were traced and cut from that painted sheet, and arched doors and windows were cut and glued on, as were banners and other objects to augment the final outcome.
